   Code Enforcement Officer's 2006 Report

This report for fiscal 2007 covers the period from July 1, 2006 to May 1, 2007. Fiscal 2007 saw a total of 95 construction permits issued. In the past five years, (2002 to 2006) the average number of permits issued was 96. This would make 2007 an average year at least in the permit issuing effort.

In 2007, Code Enforcement instituted a land-use complaint program, which requires a complainant to complete and sign a form. Note, the complaintant's name is kept confidential unless required by a court. This new program provides a tracking system and it also reduces the number of complaints, which are really disputes between neighbors.

Code Enforcement also has an involvement in a number of other issues. For example, the permitting process presently underway for a large subdivision in the area of Jones' Pond. Code Enforcement will also be participating in an appeal hearing regarding the division of a shore land lot.

The workload has been fairly constant and at times it takes a considerable effort to stay ahead of the demand. This department would not be able to maintain its present level of efficiency if it were not for the assistance it receives from the Town's employees. This outstanding help and cooperation improves and increases each year. Code Enforcement thanks: Francis Gray, Eve, Gil, Brittany, Maureen and Brenda for their daily help. A special thanks is extended to Chief Wycoff and his staff for all the assistance received and also to the Board of Selectmen and the Planning Board. Praise and credit is also extended to each Gouldsboro resident for their outstanding cooperation. Their love of the Town is obvious.

Total permits issued: 95

Permits in the shore land: 46

Permits for new houses: 18
