Mission Statement
The mission for every member of the department is to consistently seek and find ways to affirmatively promote preserve and deliver quality services to members of our community.

In our effort to protect the citizens of Gouldsboro, we shall vigorously work to prevent and detect crime. We will enforce the laws of this state and the ordinances of our town.

The Gouldsboro Police Department recognizes that the youth represent the future of the community. We will strive to serve as role models for our youth and work to develop a positive relationship with them based on trust and respect.

The mission of the Police Department is profound because of its significance and complexity. It is a diverse service that requires significant knowledge and skills and a unique authority. This service includes protecting the constitutional rights of citizens, preventing and controlling crime, apprehending offenders, aiding citizens in hazardous situations, facilitating traffic, resolving conflict, and maintaining order.

A police officer's life is one of sacrifice and ideals, based upon the responsibilities entrusted to him by the community. An officer accepts the challenge to defend the innocent, protect the weak, and aid the distressed, and to do so without fear, favor or prejudice. Rigid adherence to those principles set out in the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics is mandatory for anyone accepting a position in Gouldsboro Police Department. Working together to seek excellence, is achieved by providing effective and safe performance of employee duties through optimum training and equipment; promoting active participation of employees in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; encouraging employees to pursue higher education for professional growth and development; recognizing personnel for outstanding service and contributions the community and the department; and professionalism of its employees are the foundation of trust in the community we live in.
