Gouldsboro Town Office and Fire Department

The town office is located on Rt. 186, or Main Street, in Prospect Harbor, next door to the Fire Station. It contains land records from the 1800's and records of births, marriages, and deaths. It is home to the Assessor's Office, Treasurer's Office, and Tax Collector's Office, along with the general town officials and clerks. The elected and appointed officials who serve the community of Gouldsboro are a dedicated group who put providing exceptional citizen service above all else, at all times.

The Town of Gouldsboro is governed by a Selectmen / Town Manager form of government. It has a five member Select Board that is elected at large and is responsible for determining town policy. The Town Manager is appointed by the Selectmen and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the town. All residents have the right to participate in town activities, including the election of town officials. There are several committees appointed by the Selectmen and each resident is encouraged to apply. Appointments are effective July 1, although vacancies sometimes occur during the year.
