All elections within the Town of Gouldsboro are managed by the Town Office.

Polls will be open from 8AM-8PM located at the Gouldsboro Rec Center, 679 Pond Road in Gouldsboro.

How do I register to vote?
You can register to vote at the Town Office during normal office hours or at the polls on election day. The Registrar of Voters will be available at the polls. Please bring with you:
• Proof of identification
• Proof of Gouldsboro residency (utility bill, lease agreement, vehicle registration, bank statement)

If your Maine Driver’s License shows the correct physical address, that will satisfy proof of identification, and residency. IF you do not have a driver’s license, Maine allows you to use any of the following for identification to register to vote:

Government-issued photograph identification document or credential:
• Current and valid United States Passport
• Military Identification

Government-issued identification document without a photograph:
• Certified Birth Certificate
• Signed Social Security Card

Or other official documents:
• Document confirming eligibility determinations for public benefits
• Utility Bill
• Bank Statement
• Government Check
• Paycheck or other government document that shows the name and address of voter
• Maine ID or Driver’s License number
• Last four of your social security number

If you are currently registered to vote and wish to change any information pertinent to your voting record, such as your name or address, visit the Town Clerk’s office.

Voting in Gouldsboro is held on election day at the Gouldsboro Rec Center 679 Pond Road.

State House of Representatives – District 12
County Commissioner Hancock – District 1

Municipal Elections
The Town of Gouldsboro Municipal Elections are held every June. Special elections may be called throughout the year.

Gouldsboro Voters can obtain an absentee ballot 3 ways:
1) Click here to request an absentee ballot via online.
2) Deliver or mail an absentee request form to the Town Office.
3) Call the Town Office (207) 963-5589 to request. We need to speak to each voter individually for this method.

☘️ The town is soliciting bids for the operation of its Transfer Station for the period July 1, 2026-June 30, 2029. Click here to view and download the necessary document. ☘️ A Special Town Meeting will be held at 5PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at the Gouldsboro Town Office before the regular Select Board meeting. ☘️ Effective Monday, March 2, 2026 the Town Office will be changing the hours of operation we are open to the public. We will now be closing from 12:15 – 1PM Mondays through Thursday for lunch. In addition, we will be closing at 5PM on Thursdays. Friday operations are unchanged. The new schedule is as follows:

☘️ We are pleased to let residents know that the Town of Winter Harbor’s gym, located at 10 School Street, is open as a safe indoor walking space during the winter months. Monday – Friday 9-10AM and 2-4PM. This opportunity is free and open to anyone who would like to walk in a safe space to stay active this winter! We extend our sincere thanks to the Town of Winter Harbor for allowing Gouldsboro residents to utilize this option.

☘️ Attention Shellfish Harvesters: Stave Island Bar will be opened from October 20, 2025 and will close June 30, 2026.

☘️ Please be aware, ALL Mooring fees were due by the end of August without penalty. As of September 1, a late fee of $25 has been applied to all outstanding mooring fees.

🗑️ Effective October 1: Cardboard will be treated as regular trash. It can be mixed in with other household trash. No clear plastic bag is needed, but a sticker will be required.

🗑️ The Solid Waste Committee has spoken with the City of Ellsworth, and the city is willing to take recyclables at their transfer station from Gouldsboro residents as long as they are clean and sorted. Please check in with the attendant at their transfer station if you are dropping off to ensure they are the right items and CLEAN. Please click here to see acceptable items at the City of Ellsworth’s website. Please be respectful of their personnel and property while making use of this service. We thank the City of Ellsworth for their willingness to make their facility available to us.
