The “Welcome to Gouldsboro” sign that resides on Route One at
the Gouldsboro town line coming from Sullivan.

 


Prospect Harbor Bay! This bay is next to the Old
Canning Factory that was the home of many companies
including “Stinsons Canning Company” and last formerly
known as “Maine Fair Trade Lobster”.

 


This is the home of the Gouldsboro Clam Lab
in Bunkers Harbor!

 


The Day Ridge Preserve Trail is located on
Route One and sits almost across from the DOT
Lot and is open to the public. Click here to access

Big Jim! This large wooden billboard resides at the
old canning factory in Prospect Harbor. Big Jim used
to sit at the Kittery-Portsmouth Bridge decades ago
and held a can of sardines that read “Maine Sardines
Welcome You to Vacationland & Sardineland”.

in the Navy Special Operations Command Station.

Gouldsboro Buoy Tree! This sits on the
South Gouldsboro Road (Route 186). Fishermen
in Gouldsboro gathered to put the tree together.

 


West Gouldsboro Village Library!
The Library is located at the South Gouldsboro
end of Route 186. It was built in 1907 and
designed by Fred Savage. In 1991, the building
was placed on the National Registry of Historic
Places and is open only during the summer months.

 


The “Downeast Beast” Fishing Vessel!
This sits next to the Prospect Harbor Woman’s
Club for kids to play on.

 


A mini model of the Prospect Harbor Lighthouse
and Gull Cottage! This sits in between the Prospect
Harbor Women’s Club and the Town Office.

 


Gouldsboro Historical Society Headquarters!
The GHS headquarters is located at 88 Old Route One.

This is located at the Prospect Harbor Women’s
Club parking lot. Gouldsboro honors all who served
their Country. All gave some, some gave all.

☘️ Effective Monday, March 2, 2026 the Town Office will be changing the hours of operation we are open to the public. We will now be closing from 12:15 – 1PM Mondays through Thursday for lunch. In addition, we will be closing at 5PM on Thursdays. Friday operations are unchanged. The new schedule is as follows:

☘️ We are pleased to let residents know that the Town of Winter Harbor’s gym, located at 10 School Street, is open as a safe indoor walking space during the winter months. Monday – Friday 9-10AM and 2-4PM. This opportunity is free and open to anyone who would like to walk in a safe space to stay active this winter! We extend our sincere thanks to the Town of Winter Harbor for allowing Gouldsboro residents to utilize this option.

☘️ Attention Shellfish Harvesters: Stave Island Bar will be opened from October 20, 2025 and will close June 30, 2026.

☘️ Please be aware, ALL Mooring fees were due by the end of August without penalty. As of September 1, a late fee of $25 has been applied to all outstanding mooring fees.

🗑️ Effective October 1: Cardboard will be treated as regular trash. It can be mixed in with other household trash. No clear plastic bag is needed, but a sticker will be required.

🗑️ The Solid Waste Committee has spoken with the City of Ellsworth, and the city is willing to take recyclables at their transfer station from Gouldsboro residents as long as they are clean and sorted. Please check in with the attendant at their transfer station if you are dropping off to ensure they are the right items and CLEAN. We thank the City of Ellsworth for their willingness to make their facility available to us.
